Form theory

Form theory stands for:

  • Morphology (language) , in grammar, starting from the word, the analysis of the inflected forms and the parts of speech
  • Syntax , in grammar, starting from the sentence, the purely formal relationships between (linguistic) signs
  • Form theory (music) , branch of music theory, deals with the history and character of musical forms
  • in mathematics, the theory of the basic forms of surface figures and bodies, see geometry
  • Genre (literature) , in literary studies the basic and systematic structure of literary works from the point of view of production and performance
