The Forminx was a Greek beat band in the mid-1960s.

The band played Beat - pop , sung in English in the style of the early Beatles and the Shadows . A famous member of the Hammond organ was Vangelis Papathanassiou (from 1968 to 1971 together with Demis Roussos successfully with the band Aphrodite's Child , then as a solo artist, multi-instrumentalist, pioneer of electronic music and film music composer), who was also significantly involved in the compositions . Other band members were Vasilis Bakopoulos on guitar, Sotiris Arnis on bass, Kostas Skodos on drums and singer Tassos Papastamatis.

Initially founded without any serious ambitions, The Forminx quickly became Greece's most famous band, popularizing beat music in their country. They filled concert halls with screaming fans. The Greek youth wanted their own national beat idols and The Forminx exactly matched their ideas musically and visually. Between 1964 and 1966 the band released a number of singles such as “Ah! Say Yeah ”or“ Jenka Beat ”. Her biggest hit was "Jeronimo Yanka", of which over 100,000 copies were sold.

In 1965, the Greek filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos started a documentary about The Forminx, but the film project was never completed due to disagreements with the production team.
