Origin and meaning

The word Fornaçon comes from the French word forgeron (= blacksmith) and means stove setter .

In 1712, at the invitation of the Prussian Crown Prince , who later became King Friedrich Wilhelm I , around 7,000 immigrants from French-speaking Switzerland came to East Prussia . Fornaçons were among them.

After the Germans were expelled and fled from East Prussia, the Fornaçons spread across Germany.
