Forest nursery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A forest nursery is a special form of a tree nursery that deals with forest plants .

It grows trees and bushes from the special seeds of the forest seed kiln or from cuttings , which are then intended for planting in the open countryside. As a rule, however, the forest plants are only grown up to the size of the seedlings and are traded as "root products" (young plants without balls of soil). In addition, wild trees that are not cultivated are also attracted. The cultivation of future Christmas trees also belongs to this area. In forest tree nurseries, there are considerably stricter selection and quality criteria than in horticultural nurseries , which use ornamental plants for home gardens and parks.
