The Fort Kochi beach is a 800 meter long beach along the Arabian Sea in the state of Kerala in southern India. It borders on the old city center of Kochi ( Fort Kochi ). Part of the beach is not accessible to visitors as it is under the control of the Indian Navy . The beach offers a good view of the port facilities of Kochi and the incoming and outgoing ships.

The landmark of Fort Kochi Beach are the famous Chinese fishing nets , which were set up there in the 13th century. The heavy wooden structures on which nets hang are mainly used during floods and are installed over a length of 500 meters. It is one of the main attractions of Kerala, attracting tourists from distant lands to watch the fishermen work on the 10 meter high wooden net booms. The fish are processed and sold right next to the fishing nets.

On the beach promenade, the visitor can see the remains of Fort Emmanuel , the first European fortress in India built by the Portuguese. Most of the ramparts were already dismantled in the 19th century, their course can now be traced on a number of now very tall rain trees.
