Fort Marie-Christine

The Fort Marie-Christine is a Sardinian Citadel in Aussois in France .

The fort is named after Maria Christina of Savoy . It was built in the 19th century under her father Victor Emanuel I to protect the Kingdom of Sardinia , to which the Maurienne belonged at that time. The fort is part of the Barrière de l'Esseillon barrier .

Today the facility is a youth hostel .
