A fortotschka ( Russian : фо́рточка; [ ˈfortətɕkə ] from the German wicket via Polish fortka ) is a small ventilation flap within a window and can be opened separately from the rest of the window via a hinge . Fortotschkas ( Ukrainian : кватирка kwatyrka) are mainly used in Russia and other successor states of the Soviet Union, as well as in Finland ( Finnish : tuuletusikkuna).
