Photo aesthetics
As photo aesthetic one aspect which is the theory of photography called, which deals with the aesthetic effects of the photographic image. Photo aesthetics is concerned with the reception and reflection of photography, especially artistic photography , but is not a guide to the creation of certain pictorial works.
Occasionally the term is also used in the sense of an iconography , similar to that of video aesthetics , but then it does not denote a clearly defined form of representation or style.
Typical questions in photo aesthetics are, for example:
- What are the characteristics of photography compared to other visual media?
- What specific types of effects are there on the viewer?
- What relevance does photography have for the individual or for society?
