Photo lines

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Photo linen is a light-sensitive coated material for the production of black and white or colored reflective images . In contrast to photo paper , a cotton-based textile fabric was used as the carrier material.

Photo lines were used for large-format photographs at trade shows and for advertising purposes before large-format prints became affordable. Today photo linen is used in artistic portrait photography when z. B. a painting-like structure is desired.

The surface of the layer is mostly matt in order to largely exclude reflections, which are often disturbing from light sources. In addition, the textile structure becomes apparent on the layer side, as the emulsion is applied directly to the carrier and is absorbed into the fabric.
