Early bird discount
The early bird discount is a discount offer that tour operators , but also other service providers, such as the organizers of conferences, trade fairs or training courses, offer their customers. Customers receive a discount on the regular price of the respective service if they are ready to book the service offered at an early stage. Tour operators usually set a certain deadline for this from the date of publication of the holiday catalog.
While early bird discounts have long been in use in the conference and event industry and primarily serve the organizers' planning security, tourism companies have only been using them to a greater extent since around the year 2000. The term “book early” is also being used more and more frequently, and primarily refers to discounted offers from tour operators. The aim of this measure is to counter the increase in the rate of last minute trips from year to year . Almost every tour operator offers price reductions (early bird discounts) for early booking of package tours. A so-called early bird discount is i. d. By booking early, tour operators can better calculate their capacities at airports and hotel rooms and reward their customers who book early with so-called early bird discounts. The advantage for the customer is obvious. Whoever books last, gets what is left. This applies to hotels, the apartment and the airfields. The probability that the desired hotel is still available at the desired date from the nearest airport decreases over time.
