Sleep-related cognitions questionnaire

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The questionnaire on sleep-related cognition ( FB-SK ) is a psychological questionnaires for self assessment of cognition with respect to the own sleep.

scope of application

The questionnaire can be used both for pure diagnostics and for the evaluation of therapeutic measures in the therapy of sleep disorders. Since thoughts about one's own sleep in particular are recorded, the questionnaire is particularly suitable for use in the context of cognitive behavioral therapy . It consists of 30 questions , which are assigned to the following five scales:

  • Fear of sleep
  • Catastrophization
  • serenity
  • positive self-instructions
  • Sleep pill consumption

The frequency at which sleep-related cognitions occur can be determined on a 4-point response scale, starting with the value 1, for almost never, to the value 4, for almost always. The use of the FB-SK is particularly suitable for behavioral therapy-oriented sleep therapy groups because of its sensitivity to change. The FB-SK can be carried out as an individual or group test. The target group are mainly young people and adults. With regard to reliability and validity , the method shows satisfactory results. However, the test is controversial when it comes to distinguishing between primary and secondary sleep disorders.

aims

The goals of the FB-SK procedure are:

  • Mapping of the structure of insomnia-related cognitions in people with chronic sleep disorders
  • Supplement to insomnia diagnostics in an economical way
  • Reliable recording of changes in insomnia-relevant cognitions
