Francesco Rocca (lawyer)

Francesco Rocca (born  September 1, 1965 in Rome ) is an Italian lawyer and functionary of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement .

After completing his law studies at the University of La Sapienza , he initially worked as a lawyer between 1990 and 2003, before gaining further qualifications in the field of health management and then assuming managerial positions in various hospitals and institutions in the Italian health care system.

From 2007, he initially headed the Disaster Response Department of the Italian Red Cross . From 2013 to 2017 he served as its President and Vice President for the Europe Region of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. He has been President of the International Federation since November 2017, succeeding the Japanese Tadateru Konoé .
