Francesco Tomei (born May 19, 1985 in Lucca ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Career

Tomei made the biggest headlines before he even started his professional career when he finished second in the Italian time trial championships in the U23 class in 2005 and 2006 . In 2007 he became a professional cyclist and signed with the Professional Continental Team CSF Group-Navigare . After two years he finally moved to ProTeam Lampre-NGC. There he was used for the first time at the Vuelta a España , but ended it prematurely after the 11th stage. After the start of the 2010 season, he ended his active career.
