French League for Human Rights

The French league for the defense of human and civil rights , French Ligue française pour la défense des droits de l'homme et du citoyen , short: Ligue des droits de l'homme (LDH), was founded in Paris in 1898 with the aim of the To force the Dreyfus Trial to resume . One of the founders was Ludovic Trarieux , who was president from 1898 to 1904.

Under their influence, the German Confederation New Fatherland renamed itself the German League for Human Rights in 1922 .

In 1922, the French League initiated the establishment of the first international umbrella organization for the human rights movement, the Fédération internationale des ligues des droits de l'Homme .
