Freienfelser Ritterspiele 2011

The Freienfelser Ritterspiele are one of the oldest and largest medieval markets in Germany. At the event, which was launched in 1992, almost 3,000 active people meet every year on a total area of around 130,000 square meters in Weinbach - Freienfels .

description

Always on the first weekend in May, the Freienfelser Ritterspiele have developed into one of the most respected depictions of medieval life over the past two and a half decades. Life and camp, handicraft and trade, food and drink, martial arts and juggling in a period from the Great Migration to the High Middle Ages are demonstrated.

The largest part of the event area is taken up by the two large camps, in which up to 2,000 participants live in over 120 camps. The majority of the program takes place on the tournament area, which has a capacity of 2,000 spectators. Over 100 traders and craftsmen can show their goods and handicrafts on two large marketplaces. There are also two stages on which up to ten music groups play.

The highlights of the weekend are the show and fairy tale tournaments, the free tournament as well as the evening tournament and the subsequent fire show. In addition, a field battle will be performed on every day of the event .
