Freiherr vom Stein Medal (Saarland)

The Freiherr-vom-Stein-Medal is an award that Saarland bestows on citizens who have made a contribution to local self-government . The award was donated on September 14, 1989 by the Saarland Prime Minister; the award is usually made by the interior minister.

Shape and way of carrying

The medal has a diameter of 50 mm and shows the profile head of the Prussian reformer and statesman Heinrich Friedrich Karl Reichsfreiherr vom und zum Stein (1757–1831) with the dates “1757 - 1831” on the obverse . The reverse of the medal bears the inscription under the Saarland coat of arms: "For services to local self-government". The Freiherr vom Stein medal is not intended to be worn in public. In public, on special occasions, a pin can be worn that shows the profile head picture of Freiherr vom Stein. The pin is presented with the medal. A certificate is issued for the award of the Freiherr vom Stein Medal. The certificate, medal and pin become the property of the borrower.
