Voluntary Association

Voluntary association ( English voluntary association ) or voluntary organization is a term from the sociology , the voluntary associations as parties , associations and clubs describes. Its main characteristics include voluntary membership and free individual access for anyone who accepts its goals.

In particular, this includes political parties, trade unions , professional and interest groups , leisure associations, religious communities , citizens' initiatives , non-governmental organizations and the like. Their legal form in Germany is often the association.

The voluntary association is only partially identical to the non-profit organization .
