The British fashion label French Connection United Kingdom (known under the short name FCUK or fcuk ) was founded in 1969 by British designer Stephen Marks with a range of tailor-made upscale women's clothing in traditional materials. The clothing was first marketed under his name.

Marks saw great potential for a less expensive women's collection for a wider market and launched the French Connection brand in 1972 , which was expanded to include the first men's collection four years later. Confirmed by the global success of the women's and men's collections, the range was quickly expanded to include accessories, glasses, watches, shoes and perfumes.

Today the brand is represented in more than 30 countries with 124 of its own branches. In addition, there are currently 285 licensed franchise locations worldwide. This is underlined by the abbreviation FCUK, a significant name and advertising campaign for French Connection United Kingdom. French Connection has 1668 employees (as of January 2017); the current annual turnover is estimated at 153.2 million GBP ( Great Britain Pound ). The company's headquarters are in London and are listed on the London Stock Exchange .
