Frente Radical Alfarista

The Frente Radical Alfarista (FRA) is a liberal party in Ecuador . It was founded in 1972 as a split from the Partido Liberal Radical Ecuatoriano and has celebrated some electoral successes since the return to democracy in 1979. In the 1979 elections, the FRA supported Jaime Roldós' candidacy ; In 1984 it provided 6 parliamentarians. From 1985 the FRA supported the government of León Febres Cordero . In the elections of 1988 and 1990 it was represented by 2 parliamentarians, in 1992 by one. The FRA supported the government of Abdalá Bucaram from 1996 to 1997 and, with Fabián Alarcón , was the President of Ecuador from February 1997 to August 1998. In the following years it has lost its importance.
