The peace bell at Friesoythe town hall in the city park can be heard every year on the occasion of Christmas.

The historic Katharinenbell from 1478 rings in the Holy Night on December 24th at 7pm. On Christmas Day, the peace bells will sound at 3 p.m. in the city park.

The bell, which weighs tons, is one of the oldest still usable exhibits in the history of Friesoyther. The monument prevented during World War II, a melting down of the damaged bell that was taken on the occasion of the anniversary of the city in 2008 by a Bavarian specialist company back to blades.

Since then it has had an exclusive location as a peace bell in the Friesoyther Stadtpark .
