Front for the restoration of unity and democracy

The Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy ( French Front pour la Restauration de l'Unité et de la Démocratie , Arabic الجبهة من أجل استعادة الوحدة والديمقراطية, Abbreviation FRUD ) is a political party in Djibouti .

It supports the interests of the Afar people , who mainly live in Djibouti and make up the minority of the population. However, the party also has supporters who reside outside the country.

The party was founded in 1991 and fought against the government under the Union pour la Majorité Présidentielle (UMP) during the civil war in Djibouti . Since the end of the civil war, FRUD has been a legal opposition party again.
