Football was a German sports magazine . The sports newspaper first appeared in 1911 and was one of the first football journals in Germany to be economically viable and establish itself in the long term. The editorial seat of the magazine, which was published by Eugen Seybold and also functions as an association organ, was Munich .

In the 1920s, the “football” with the “ Kicker ” and the “ Berlin Football Weekfought for dominance in the football magazine segment. After the circulation of “Fußball” was for a long time higher than that of the competition paper “Kicker”, it replaced the “Fußball” magazine as the sports newspaper with the highest circulation at the end of the 1930s. Due to the war, the paper merged with the sports magazine "Kicker" in 1943 and was finally discontinued in autumn 1944. After the Second World War, the paper was re-established in 1948, but was discontinued in 1951.
