Fujisawa Yakuhin Kōgyō KK ( Japanese 藤 沢 薬 品 工業 株式会社 , Fujisawa yakuhin kōgyō kabushiki-gaisha , dt. "Fujisawa pharmaceutical industry". English Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ) was a Japanese pharmaceutical company.

In 1894 Tomokichi Fujisawa opened a small pharmaceutical business under the name Fujisawa Shoten in Doshō-machi, Chūō-ku , Osaka . From this business, the Fujisawa Yakuhin Kōgyō KK emerged in 1943

In 1962, Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., (Taiwan) Ltd. the first overseas branch established after World War II. This branch was established in Fujisawa Taiwan Co., Ltd. in 1994 . renamed. In 1977, the Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Corporation was founded, the first subsidiary in the USA. 1979 the London office opens.

In 1983 the Fujisawa company acquired a minority stake in Klinge Pharma GmbH in Germany. In 1988 the majority of the shares were acquired and in 2002 the company was renamed Fujisawa Deutschland GmbH .

In 1990 Fujisawa USA, Inc. is founded and Lyphomed, Inc. is taken over.

In 1991, Fujisawa GmbH was founded in Germany for European business. In 1998, a restructuring takes place the American company from which the company Fujisawa Healthcare, Inc. is apparent.

In 2001 the European branches are restructured, and Fujisawa GmbH is established as the European headquarters.

In 2004, the business in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan was completely restructured. In the same year, the Yamanouchi Seiyaku company decided to take over the Fujisawa company. On April 1, 2005, the merger negotiations will be completed and the new company Astellas will be founded.
