The Funiculaire du Vieux-Québec is a funicular in the Canadian city ​​of Québec . In the old town it connects the upper town (Haute-Ville) on the Cap Diamant rock spur with the lower town (Basse-Ville) on the Saint Lawrence River .

The funicular has a length of 64 meters and overcomes a height difference of 59 meters, the maximum incline is 45 °. Two cars operate on the double-lane, electrified route. The mountain station is located at the Dufferin terrace , the valley station on Rue du Petit-Champlain in the former home of the French explorer Louis Joliet .

The funicular opened on November 17, 1879. Originally it was a water ballast runway , the switch to electrical operation took place in 1907. On July 2, 1945, a major fire destroyed the runway, the restoration took a year. Extensive renovations took place in 1978 and 1998.
