Fury Master

"Fury", around 1610

Furienmeister is the emergency name of an ivory carver of the early 17th century, formed after a characteristic work, a screaming fury in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna . All his sculptures are unsigned. Stylistic investigations and the mention of a work in an inventory of the Medici Grand Duchess Maria Magdalena of Austria from 1625 enable a chronological classification in the first quarter of the 17th century. So far, 25 works have been ascribed to the master and his workshop.
