The student campus magazine Furios ( own spelling FURIOS ) is a student magazine that has been published at Freie Universität Berlin (FU) since December 15, 2008 . Your printed edition is published once per semester and comprises 40 pages. FURIOS reports online in the campus, politics, culture and science departments weekly about current events at the university. Behind FURIOS are students who are interested in independent journalism at Freie Universität. The magazine sees itself as an independent medium without any specific political orientation. history
Emergence
In 2008 the Free University celebrated its sixtieth anniversary and won the Excellence Initiative for the first time alongside the Humboldt University of Berlin (HU). At the same time, some students wanted an independent medium on campus. At this point in time there was already some media at the FU, but behind each there was an interest group. For example, the General Student Committee (Asta) published the booklet “Out of Dahlem” and the FU press office published the online magazine “campus.leben”. FURIOS took on the task of enriching the media landscape and formed the first independent student magazine at the FU. The first issue, published in December 2008, and the two following in June 2009 and December 2009, received a printing subsidy from the FU's alumni association, the Ernst-Reuter-Gesellschaft (ERG), and advertisements were also placed. Since 2011, FURIOS has financed itself exclusively through advertisements and its support association.
FURIOS today
In November 2019, FURIOS, together with other campus magazines and the student radio CouchFM, participated in the panel discussions on the subject of "Why do you choose?" At the Correctiv research center. The aim was to find out how university democracy can be strengthened in the future.
organization
The Freundeskreis FURIOS eV has officially existed since 2011. As a sponsoring association, it has the function of publisher, finances, among other things, parts of the editorial infrastructure and regularly organizes journalistic workshops for the FURIOS editorial team.
