Fermentation substrate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term fermentation substrate is mostly used in the field of the production of biogas in biogas plants for the fermentation content. It is misleading that the raw material for biogas production, the substrate and the end product, the fermentation residue , are sometimes referred to as fermentation substrate. In many biogas plants, the repository also serves as a post-fermenter, so that it is not possible to clearly differentiate between fermentation substrate and digestate.
