Guest service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A guest service is a target group service which, through essential design elements, is aimed at friends and relatives of regular service visitors. This type of event is widespread across many church communities and denominations.

claim

A special attempt is made to address non-church visitors through a guest service. This means that the topic of the guest service is geared towards the target group as early as the planning, announcement and, if necessary, on flyers. This also means that the language of Canaan should be avoided if possible. A guest service is often similar in form and content to a family service . The theme of a guest worship service is often chosen in such a way that its formulation alone arouses curiosity and interest.

shape

Guest services are often similar to family services , mixtures of sermon, youth and children's services , as well as active participation elements are common. The liturgy is mostly deviated from in order to focus on the target group.

The guest service traditionally takes place on a Sunday as a replacement for the sermon service. Often the beginning is set back slightly, which makes it “family-friendly”.

Guest services are usually held when the parish reacts to an upcoming special event, e.g. B. would like to point out an alpha course , a seminar series, theme evenings or the like and would like to reach a wider audience.

In order to create a pleasant atmosphere and to be remembered well, a church café, a church bistro or a joint lunch is sometimes held after a guest service.
