Günter Wiatrek

Günter Wiatrek (born February 24, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German television announcer. He was a newscaster for the Tagesschau and the Berliner Abendschau .

Life

Günter Wiatrek was born in Berlin and grew up in what was then East Berlin .

Wiatrek worked as a spokesman for Radio Luxemburg and for the Sender Freies Berlin at the Berliner Abendschau , where he regularly read the news. In 1974, the speakers for the 8 p.m. edition of the ARD Tagesschau were fairly small and they were looking for young speakers; therefore Wiatrek was brought into the team in the same year. However, he left the Tagesschau in 1975 and only worked for the Berliner Abendschau until his retirement . He also moderated the press review on ZDF .
