GENeric eXpendable ( GEN-X ) is an active, dropable radar jammer made in the USA .

In contrast to conventional chaff , they actively interfere with enemy radar systems instead of just offering a larger signature. A GEN-X decoys can be loaded into the vast majority of countermeasure launchers of American combat aircraft (e.g. AN / ALE-39 or AN / ALE-47 ) and does not need a connection to the carrier platform before being released, as it automatically searches for radar sources after being ejected searches which are stored in its EPROM memory. The disruptive body consists of a broadband transmitter based on gallium arsenide , some integrated circuits and a lithium battery .
