AN / ALE-39

The AN / ALE-39 ( JETDS designation) is a decoy launcher for combat aircraft . It was produced by the British group BAE Systems .

description

The ALE-39 is used to eject chaff , flares and disposable jammers to protect the carrier aircraft from infrared and radar guided missiles . The system can accommodate up to 60 of these jamming / decoy units, whereby these types can also be mixed as desired. The release of deceit can be triggered manually by the pilot or by a missile / radar warning system. Typically the two launchers are mounted under the hull of the support platform.

Production of the system began in 1973 and was discontinued in the 1990s. Over 1,000 devices were delivered during the production phase.
