The GMC 6-71 Blower is a flushing blower of the Roots type that is used in the 71 engine series from General Motors (GMC). The 71 series are two - stroke diesel engines with one to six cylinders in an in-line design and six to 24 cylinders in a V arrangement. These engines were introduced from 1938.

The designation 6-71 is historically based, the 6 stands for the number of cylinders of the originally attached diesel engine and 71 indicates its individual cylinder capacity in inch ³. The loader delivers 5553 cm³ (339 inch³) per revolution. The rotors have a 30 degree pitch and are 381 mm (15 inches) long.

In the hot rod scene, these superchargers are often installed in a modified design as a compressor in four-stroke engines. Not only is the “retro 6-71” available among the replicas, the original “x-71” series has been expanded to include loaders with enlarged rotors and housings, resulting in designations such as “16-71” or “18- 71 ”led.
