Leo Jun Ikenaga

Leo Jun Ikenaga SJ ( Japanese レ オ 池 長 潤 , Reo Ikenaga Jun ; born March 11, 1937 in Kobe ) is a Japanese clergyman and retired Archbishop of Osaka .

Life

Leo Jun Ikenaga joined the religious order of the Jesuits and was ordained a priest on March 20, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Archbishop of Osaka on November 2, 1995 . The archbishop of Osaka, Paul Hisao Yasuda , donated him episcopal ordination on March 20th of the next year; Co- consecrators were Joseph Satoshi Fukahori , Bishop of Takamatsu , and Raymond Ken'ichi Tanaka , Bishop of Kyoto .

After retirement Paul Hisao Yasuda he followed him on May 10, 1997 as Archbishop of Osaka to and he was introduced to the office on June 22 of that year.

On August 20, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
