The Roman Catholic Diocese of Takamatsu ( lat. : Dioecesis Takamatsuensis , Jap. カトリック高松教区 , katorikku Takamatsu Kyoku ) is in Japan situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Takamatsu .

history

The Diocese of Takamatsu was established on January 27, 1904 by Pope Pius X. from cession of territory from the Diocese of Osaka as the Apostolic Prefecture of Shikoku . The Shikoku Apostolic Prefecture was founded on September 13, 1963 by Pope Paul VI. raised to the diocese and renamed the diocese Takamatsu . The Diocese of Takamatsu is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Osaka as a suffragan .

The diocese of Takamatsu includes the island of Shikoku with the prefectures of Ehime , Kagawa , Kōchi and Tokushima .
