history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1181 as "Dorimberch". The place name is derived from a field name with the same name meaning mountain, which is overgrown with thorny scrub . The aristocratic family Dornberg took it over and named their seat, Dornberg Castle , afterwards .

In the geographic, statistical-topographic lexicon of Franconia (1799), the following is written about the place: “In 1232 it was bought by the Counts of Oettingen . On the steep hill located there (one reads in several descriptions of the earth of Ansbach) one can still discover the old foundation walls of the former extensive fortress of the same name, which was destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525. In the 13th century it was still inhabited by the extinct counts or advocates of Dornberg. There are absolutely no remains of the fortress Dornberg. The foundations of the same were used up a few years ago to build new houses there. You can only see the position of the fortress on the wall. "

In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Ansbach from 1684, 14 teams were recorded for Dornberg, all of which had the Hofkastenamt Ansbach as landlord . The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach. As a result of the Thirty Years War , two farms and four estates were barren at that time.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 16 properties in Dornberg: 5 half courtyards, 11 Sölden estates and a community pastor's house . The court office of Ansbach continued to exercise the high court, the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties. At that time there were 15 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Dornberg was assigned to the Schalkhausen tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Schalkhausen founded in 1811 . This was incorporated into the city of Ansbach on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
