The Roman Catholic Diocese of Nellore ( lat. : Dioecesis Nellorensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Nellore .

history

The diocese of Nellore was on July 3, 1928 by Pope Pius XI. Erected with the papal bull Ad maius religionis incrementum from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Madras . On February 13, 1940, the diocese of Nellore gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Guntur . Further territorial assignments took place on June 12, 1967 to found the diocese of Kurnool and on October 19, 1976 to found the diocese of Cuddapah .

The diocese is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam as a suffragan .

The diocese includes the state of Andhra Pradesh lying districts of Nellore and Prakasam (except Taluk Adoni ).
