The Roman Catholic Diocese of Guntur ( lat. : Dioecesis Gunturensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Guntur .

history

Pope Pius XII founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Ad aptius fovendum on February 13, 1940 from cession of territory by the Diocese of Nellore and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Madras as a suffragan diocese.

On September 19, 1953, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad . On October 16, 2001 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam.
