Mariada's Kagithapu

Mariadas Kagithapu MSFS (born September 7, 1936 in Visakhapatnam ; † February 26, 2018 ibid) was an Indian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Visakhapatnam in India .

Life

Mariadas Kagithapu joined the Order of Missionaries of St. Francis of Sales and was ordained a priest on June 10, 1961 . For many years he was professor of theology at St. Peter's Seminary in Bangalore .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 19, 1974 Bishop of Guntur . The secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Archbishop Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , donated him episcopal ordination on May 5, 1977 ; Co- consecrators were Saminini Arulappa , Archbishop of Hyderabad , and Ignatius Gopu MSFS, Bishop of Visakhapatnam.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Visakhapatnam on September 10, 1982, and he was instituted on January 26 of the next year. With the elevation to the archbishopric on October 16, 2001 he was appointed archbishop of Visakhapatnam. On July 3, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
