goals and tasks

Pierre-Marie Mermier persecuted with the founding of the Missionaries of St. Franz von Sales three goals:

  • Renewal of faith in parishes through preaching , pastoral care and parish missions
  • Mission , that is, proclaiming the Christian message to all people who have not yet heard of it
  • Christian education of children and young people

As a basis for these tasks, the members of the community should seek God above all and follow Christ according to the example of Francis de Sales and live Salesian spirituality . The Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales therefore belong to the religious communities of the Salesian Family .

Prayer and charity

Prayer and contemplation are indispensable prerequisites for the life of the missionaries of St. Francis de Sales. The community should learn from the life and example of St. Francis de Sales and imitate him in daily pastoral service. In concrete terms, this means leading a life of prayer, trust in God, philanthropy and hospitality. The Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales strives to keep these ideals in mind in daily life and take at least half an hour each day for reflection and meditation on the word of God and the life of Jesus. Reading from the Bible and the writings of St. Francis de Sales are the spiritual nourishment for daily life. Like Francis de Sales, they try to see the face of Jesus in everyone. In concrete terms, this attitude means: Have time for people, receive them kindly and be patient with them. It also means being helpful - especially to the poor and needy - giving comfort and giving hope.

Assistance and understanding for the youth and the poor

The Missionaries of St. Above all, Francis de Sales strives to educate young people in faith and in humane values. This task demands the willingness to understand the young people, to stand by them in their problems and conflicts and to provide help.
