Salesian family
The Salesian family in the broader sense includes all persons and spiritual communities influenced by Francis and his spirituality (cf. Salesian spirituality ). The Salesian family in the narrower sense (also called Don Bosco family ) comprises the religious orders and associations founded by Johannes Bosco (“Don Bosco”) or inspired by his spirituality .

- Bonalists (founded in 1637 by Raymond Bonal ; no longer exist)
- Congregation of Our Lady of the Visitation of Ghent (founded 1682)
- Sisters of St. Francis de Sales (founded in 1740 by Domenico Leonati in Padua)
- Missionaries of St. Franz von Sales (founded in 1830 by Pierre-Marie Mermier )
- Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross of Chavanod (founded in 1838 by Pierre-Marie Mermier and Claudine Echernier)
- Oblates of St. Franz von Sales (founded in 1868 by Louis Brisson and Leonie Aviat )
- Oblates of St. Francis de Sales (founded in 1872 by Louis Brisson and Maria Salesia Chappuis )
- Daughters of St. Francis de Sales of Lugo (founded in 1872 by Carlo Cavina )
- Association of the Daughters of St. Franz von Sales (founded from 1872–1876 by Henri Chaumont and Caroline Carré de Malberg )
- Congregation of St. Joseph and St. Francis de Sales for the deaf and dumb, now known as the Congregation of the Fathers of the Little Mission for the deaf and dumb (founded in 1872 by Giuseppe and Cesare Gualandi)
- Salesian Sisters of the Sacred Heart (founded in 1885 by Bl. Filippo Smaldone for the upbringing and education of deaf children)
- Secular Institute of St. Francis de Sales (founded in 1946 by Franz Reisinger )
- Institute Christ the King and High Priest (founded in 1990 by Gilles Wach and Phillip Mora)
- Sisters of Adoration of the Royal Heart of Jesus
