Artemide Zatti (German Artemis , born October 12, 1880 in Boretto , † March 15, 1951 in Viedma , Río Negro ) was an Italian Salesian of Don Bosco and a missionary in Argentina.

The Italian-born son of Luigi Zatti and Albina Vecchi emigrated with his family to Argentina in 1897, where an uncle was already living. The family settled in Bahía Blanca . He worked in a hotel and a brick factory. There he came into contact with the Salesians of Don Bosco and decided to join the religious community. In 1900 he came to Bernal , where he was given the task of helping a young priest suffering from tuberculosis. While caring for it, he contracted the disease himself, which is why he was sent to the “San José” hospital, accompanied by Father Evarisio Garrone, who took over the management of the hospital. In the event of a cure, he vowed to devote himself entirely to the service of the sick. In 1908 he made his profession. After his recovery, he therefore began to deal with the pharmacy attached to the hospital. When Garrone died in 1911, in addition to the pharmacy, he was entrusted with responsibility for the entire hospital. He became a skilled pharmacist, nurse and assistant in the operating room, but was also responsible for finances and the portal. According to reports, his daily workload was always strictly self-disciplined from 4:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. He campaigned for a new hospital, for which the foundation stone was laid in 1913. To his regret, it was demolished again in 1941 to make way for the bishop's palace for the emerging diocese of Viedma.

In July 1950, he fell off a ladder, forcing him to rest for the first time. When the examinations were due, the doctor determined end-stage liver cancer after a few months. From January to March 1951 he lay in a sick bed.

His remains are in the Salesian Chapel in Viedma.

In 1976 the Argentine Bishops' Conference opened the canonization process, in 1980 he was declared a Servant of God and on July 17, 1997 he was declared Venerabile . On April 14, 2002, he was beatified by Pope John Paul II . His feast day is March 15th.
