Albert Marvelli
Alberto Marvelli (born March 21, 1918 in Ferrara , † October 5, 1946 in Rimini ) was a Christian Democratic Italian politician, member of the Catholic Action and a student of the Salesians of Don Bosco . The Roman Catholic Church venerates him as a blessed .
Life
As a child, Alberto Marvelli went to the Salesian Oratorio in Rimini and came into contact with the Catholic Action group there. At the age of only 18, he was elected President of the Italian Catholic Action. He worked in close association with Luigi Sturzo and Primo Mazzolari (1890-1959), the pastor of Bozzolo , as well as a group of lay people led by Alcide De Gasperi .
In 1941 he completed his engineering training and began teaching at a school. During the war he was particularly committed to the poor, and during the German occupation he saved many people from deportation to concentration camps .
Marvelli was strongly influenced by the Eucharist .
After the war he was re-elected to several political offices and entrusted with church duties. He died in a traffic accident when he was only 28 years old.
beatification
In 1986 he was declared worthy of veneration , on September 5, 2004, the beatification by Pope John Paul II. His feast day is October 5.
