Eusebia Palomino Yenes FMA (born December 15, 1899 in Cantalpino , Salamanca Province , † February 10, 1935 ) was a Spanish nun . She is venerated as a blessed in the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Coming from a pious working-class family, Eusebia Palomino Yenes showed an unusual maturity in caring for other young children from an early age. At the age of twelve she went to Salamanca with her older sister to work as a nanny. On Sundays she attended the oratory of the Don Bosco sisters and volunteered there.

Due to initial concerns about not being accepted due to her origin from poor backgrounds, it was not until August 5, 1922 that she entered the novitiate of the Don Bosco Sisters. After her first profession in 1924, she worked in the branch in Valverde del Camino ( Diocese of Huelva ). Within the oratorio, equally popular with children, adolescents and adults, she was best known as the writer of numerous letters. In addition to their great piety in the Eucharist, they also reflect their strong devotion to the wounds of Christ .

When the persecution of the Catholic Church in Spain began in the early 1930s, Sr. Eusebia offered herself as an offering in prayer. In fact, from August 1932 onwards, she suffered from an illness for the next three years, from which she died on February 10, 1935, without the doctors being able to diagnose it. On April 24, 2004, Pope John Paul II beatified Sr. Eusebia Palomino Yenes. Her liturgical feast day is February 9th .
