Louise-Marguerite Claret de la Touche
Louise-Marguerite Claret de la Touche (born March 15, 1868 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye , France , † May 14, 1915 in Vische near Turin , Italy ) was a French nun , mystic and founder of the religious institute Sisters of Bethany des Sacred Heart . Because of their visions , the Priestly Association of Friends of the Heart of Jesus was founded.
Life
Marguerite Céline, then you secular name, became effective on November 20, 1890 ( postulant from 17 January 1891) in the Order of the Visitation ( Salesian Sisters ) in Romans (France) and laid on 17 October 1892, the vows from . From 1901 she regularly had visions in which the Heart of Jesus appeared to her. Because of the law separating church and state that came into force in 1905 , the sisters emigrated to Italy on March 6, 1906. After several stops in between, they settled in Turin. Sr. Louise-Marguerite was Superior there from 1907 to 1913. During these years she developed the idea of an apostolate of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with the priests, for which she wrote the book Sacred Heart and the Priesthood . On March 19, 1914 she founded the religious institute of the Visitation of the Sacred Heart in Vische near Turin , which on April 24, 1918 was named Bethany of the Heart of Jesus .
Inspired by the visions and writings of Louise-Marguerite, Matteo Angelo Filipello , Bishop of Ivrea , and Fr. Alfred Charrier SJ founded the Priestly Association of Friends of the Heart of Jesus , which was canonically established on June 16, 1918 by Bishop Filipello.
The beatification process began in 1937 but has not yet been completed. On June 26, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI confirmed the heroic degree of virtue so that she bears the title Venerable Servant of God .
