The Archdiocese of Hyderabad ( Latin Archidioecesis Hyderabadensis ) is an archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in India with its seat in Hyderabad .

The Archdiocese of Hyderabad includes the districts of Hyderabad , Rangareddy , Medak and Nizamabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh .

history

The Archdiocese of Hyderabad was founded in 1851 by Pope Pius IX. Established from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Madras as Apostolic Vicariate Hyderabad .

On September 1, 1886, the Apostolic Vicariate Hyderabad was by Pope Leo XIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Humanae salutis raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Madras as a suffragan . The diocese of Hyderabad gave up on June 15, 1928 parts of its territory to establish the Mission sui juris Bellary . Further assignments of territory took place on January 10, 1933 to found the Mission sui juris Bezwada and on December 22, 1952 to found the Warangal diocese .

On September 19, 1953, the diocese of Hyderabad was by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Mutant res raised to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Hyderabad gave on May 31, 1976 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Nalgonda . Further territorial assignments took place on December 17, 1977 to found the Diocese of Aurangabad and on June 24, 2005 to found the Diocese of Gulbarga .
