Hyderabad , also Haiderabad ( Telugu : హైదరాబాదు జిల్లా; Urdu : ضلع حیدرآباد; Hindi : हैदराबाद जिला) is a district in the Indian state of Telangana . The administrative seat is the city of Hyderabad .

geography

The district is in the west of Telangana. It is framed by the Rangareddy District .

The district has an area of ​​217 km² and is therefore the smallest district in Telangana. There are no contiguous forest areas. The music flows through the city. For the drinking water supply of Hyderabad, several large water reservoirs were created in the nearby districts.

The residents mostly speak a Dravidian or Indo-Aryan language as their mother tongue . The main languages ​​are Telugu and Urdu. Significant minorities speak (the real) Hindi, Marathi or Tamil (Tamil). They each have more than 50,000 native speakers. Population development

As everywhere in India, the population in the Hyderabad district has been growing rapidly for decades. The increase, however, fell to just 2.97 percent between the last two censuses. history

Hyderabad is part of the Telangana region and shares its history. The Hyderabad district was created in 1948 by amalgamating the previous Atraf-a-Balda and Baghat districts . It has existed in its current form since August 15, 1978 after the split from Rangareddy . Originally it was called Hyderabad (Urban) District , but was given its current name after the Hyderabad (Rural) District was renamed Rangareddy.
