The Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar ( Latin Archidioecesis Cuttackensis-Bhubanesvarensis ) is an archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in India with its seat in Cuttack .

history

The Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar was founded on July 18, 1928 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolatus officium from cession of territory by the diocese of Vizagapatam as a mission sui juris Cuttack . On June 1, 1937, the mission sui juris Cuttack by Pius XI. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Si catholicum nomen and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Ranchi as a suffragan . The diocese of Cuttack gave on January 24, 1974 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Berhampur .

On January 24, 1974, the diocese Cuttack was by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Quamvis munus raised to the archbishopric and renamed the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar .
