The district of Cuttack ( Oriya କଟକ ଜିଲ୍ଲା Kaṭaka Jillā ) is located in the Indian state of Odisha .

location

The district extends over an area of ​​3932 km² along the lower reaches of the Mahanadi and its two main branches. The district capital Cuttack is located below the split into these two main estuary arms.

Residents

In the 2011 census, the population was 2,624,470. The gender ratio was 940 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 85.5% (91.11% for men, 79.55% for women). 93.65% of the population are followers of Hinduism , 5.38% are Muslims .

The district consists of 3 sub-divisions : Athagarh, Banki and Cuttack Sadar.
