The district of Kendrapara ( Oriya କେନ୍ଦ୍ରାପଡ଼ା ଜିଲ୍ଲା Kēndrāpaṛā Jillā ) is a district in the east Indian state of Odisha .
The district lies in the coastal plain at the mouth of the Brahmani and Mahanadi . The administrative seat is the city of Kendrapara . The area is 2644 km². The population density is 545 inhabitants / km².

In 2011 there were 1,440,361 inhabitants in the district. The gender ratio was 1007 women for 1000 men. The literacy rate was 85.15% (91.45% for men, 78.96% for women). The majority of the population is Hindu (96.28%), 3.49% are Muslim .
