The Deobureo-minju party ( Korean 더불어 민주당 , transliteration : Deobureo-minju-dang , translated directly into German : Common Democratic Party or Democratic Party of Coexistence , in short also 더 민주 , Deominju , German: More democracy called) is one social liberal party in South Korea . In Europe, including Germany, the party is known as the Minju Party , whereas in English-speaking countries it is known as the Minjoo Party . history

The Minju Party was re-established on March 26, 2014 through the merger of the Minju Party ( 민주당 , Minju-dang, Democratic Party), which was renamed in 2013 , and the New Political Vision Party (NPVP) and was first called Sae- jeongchi-minju-yeonhap-dang ( 새 정치 민주 연합 , German: New Political Alliance for Democracy ) (NPAD). After the co-founder of the party Ahn Cheol-soo ( 안철수 ) and some of his supporters resigned , the party tried to reform itself and renamed itself Deobureo-minju-dang .

The Minju party won the most constituencies in the South Korean parliamentary election in April 2016 and received a relative majority of 123 seats in the Gukhoe ( 국회 ), the Korean national assembly. It replaced the conservative Saenuri Party ( 새누리 당 ), which, with Park Geun-hye , became the country's president from 2013.
